Since we moved to Jacksonville, Lesley and I have been on the hunt for a really good pizza.  The problem is that there are three places really close to where we live.  Unfortunately all those joints have really sub-par pie. Kostas is a really nice local place and has great values, but overall their pizza is not that spectacular. Pizza Palace and Al’s are pretty expensive for forgettable pizza. Pompei is good but is all the way in Orange Park. We like Moon River, but they are expensive and closed Sundays (What pizza place is closed on Sundays?).
Last Saturday, we got a tip from our volunteer coordinator at RAM. She told us about a place on King St. It’s called Carmine’s and it was really good. They have two types of pie. The New York style we had was really good crispy, good sauce with fresh toppings (could have used more cheese). Finally we found a pizza that wasn’t undercooked. The Chicago style pizza looks intriguing as well. They also have an extensive menu of entrees and appetizers. I can’t wait to try it again. The search may finally be over.

This is a collaborative blog shared with my wife. We are recent transplants to Jacksonville from Knoxville, TN where we both went to college. Right now we plan on the blog to focus on our everyday passions like photography and cooking as well as the pop culture things we take in on a regular basis.
