Friday Funtimes

I always end up downloading a lot of new music for the weekend. Not everything sticks. Sometimes what swings in a 30 second clip does not make for good multiple listens. Here are the tracks that we listened to last week that are still bouncing around the ipod.

Great track from Pusha T. Been fascinated with him since his days with the Clipse which was one of the most interesting duos in hip-hop’s Jiggy era. His verse on Kanye’s Runaway was an excellent addition to a song which might have drowned in self-indulgence.  Love the beat. I think the chorus is amazing, and the fact that it is not overused is really impressive. The Raid line is an instant flashback to those cartoon bugs of my childhood. Please ignore 50’s verse, unimaginative as always. Keep stacking paper you lucky, lucky man.

Something completely different now. Sometimes I play this game Lesley hates; where I make her guess the artist. My clue was “look who wrote a real song”. She got it. This song is just so catchy. I wonder how tongue and cheek Thurston is when he was recording this. Thurston was a childhood hero, so some lyrics may get a pass that would not have happened if a Neko or a Rilo were singing. Still a great moody pop song.

Just because.
