Sometimes I feel food reviews get the short end of the stick. No one goes to the movies and includes a description of the theater in their review of the film. The movie is never downgraded because of sticky floors or crying babies. However, food is always connected to the restaurant where it is eaten. I know movies are the same whatever theater you attend, and meals are unique to the environment in which they are served. Sometimes I think the specific experience of tasting gets lost in restaurant reviews. With that in mind, I would like to wholly recommend the short ribs at 29 South in Fernandina Beach. This dish was amazing. It was one giant rib that seems like it should have been stacked on Fred Flintstones car. The rib has a molasses glaze on it. At first it looks really thick and seems it will completely overwhelm the flavor of the beef. However, the actual meat (from Painted Hills ranch) is of such high quality it would be hard to mask it’s amazing flavor. The restaurant is good, and I definitely would like to go back. I just wanted to focus on one of the best pieces of meat I have had in a long time.
You will have to ask Lesley about her scallops (I didn’t get a very good taste). However, they looked great.
