As the night grows darker and the weekend starts to slip into the realm of memories, I like to think back on the things that I enjoyed this weekend that made it so special
1. Amaretto Sours
Lesley made these delicious concoctions Friday night. I have never been a fan but these had some whiskey in them which really lightened the thickness of the amaretto. Lesley got it from Jeffrey Morgenthaler website which is one the best drinking/cocktail sites I have ever seen.
They are a little bit of work but they are totally worth it.
2. Pimento Cheese
Another creation of Lesley’s. This is the best cheese spread around. It is great on crackers or bread. Usually it feels more like a spring or summer snack, but really it is perfect all year round. I promise one day Lesley will post her recipe.
3. Would I lie to You
This is a panel show from the BBC. It is hilarious and smart. David Mitchel and Lee Mack are perfect as the two captains of the teams who are funny and light with just a bit of competitiveness between them. Rob Brydon is great as the host(or presenter) who while a bit corny is generally very funny. Unfortunately, I have only found it on Youtube, but it is worth it.
4. Lemon Squares
Usually these are not my favorite, but Lesley made a really good batch. At first we thought that they may have been burnt in our shit apartment oven, but once we got them out of the pan they were quite good. Recipe to come.
This was a christmas gift from the in-laws, and this weekend we played it with the in-laws. The basic idea is sort of Family Feud in reverse. Instead of the most popular answers, you try to guess the least popular. It requires a very good mix of knowledge and strategy.
6. Lambchop “Gone Tomorrow”
Simply love this song. Can’t wait to get the album.
7. Fountain Pen
This is was a gift from lovely step-mother. This a Lamy brand and works quite well. I have had some that just seem to make a mess, but this one seems quite clean and easy to use. It is really nice for both drawing and writing.
